KAIAFAS LAKE
ILIA - PELOPONNESE GREECE
Kaiafas is a village in Ilia that is extremely famous for its natural spas and the beautiful nature, with the pine forest and the sandy beach with the dunes.
Kaiafas is located 28km from the city of Pyrgos,
and is an area protected for its ecological importance. On top of the east
banks of the Kaiafas Lake, are two rocky hills. On those rocks are two caves, which were named the cave of the Anigrides Nymphs and the Geranion Andro.
From these caves comes the natural waters that form the spas, which in ancient years were believed that the healing and therapeutic powers of the waters was given by the Nymphs who lived in the forests of the area.
This is why many temples and sacred altars were built, in honour of the Nymphs.
The whole area and the islet on Kaiafas Lake is very well developed for tourism, with hotels, tavernas, cafe and bars. It is an ideal destination for spa and summer holidays here in the Peloponnese.
