Gastouni is a small town, located 30km from the city of Pyrgos. It is very close to the Patras–Pirgos motorway.
Gastouni has a good
connection
with Athens, Pirgos, Patra, and the villages of the area, with the KTEL
buses and the OSE train network. During the Frankish occupation, Gastouni was a very important city and it was then that it was named Gastouni.
A very impressive sample of the Byzantine architecture and art can be found at the Church of Kimiseos Tis Theotokou, known as Panagia Katholiki.
This church was built in the area of Katholiki in Gastouni.
